Belief as a gradient, the life as an integral, and the net sum that matters — with holes I'm asking you to test

Status: open inquiry. Coherent but unverified. I'm actively looking for cases that test and break this — especially the breakers.
How to read this. Not a finished claim. A model that hangs together internally and has not been checked against reality. Below: the model, a worked example, the honest holes, and the specific cases I'm asking people to test — including the ones that should break it. The most valuable response is the one that breaks this, not the one that confirms it.
The scope correction (read first)
The awareness model runs on a vertical axis — a node reaching toward the source. It is not a model of the material or social world. I am wondering if we changed the system scope somewhere, when we started analysing belief through Hitler, culture, fanaticism — that's the horizontal axis, belief as conviction that organises power among people, and the same rules may not apply there. Vertical belief is the node's orientation toward the source. That's what the equation is about. Horizontal belief is conviction in a cause, a nation, a self, a leader — a different system. They interface at the vessel, but they are not the same axis. Everything below is vertical.

The model — belief as a gradient, life as an integral
The equation is integral calculus — awareness-access accumulated over the path.
Belief is the gradient — at each moment, the direction and steepness of the node's orientation toward the source. Not a dial, so there's no "believe harder"; not on/off either — a gradient field pointing up-slope. Zero gradient means flat, no ascent, the disconnected node. Steep means fast ascent. Doubt is a shallow or noisy gradient — on the slope, direction uncertain — which makes doubt part of belief, its transition region, not its opposite. The worked example — two curves, opposite shapes
Valmiki, who climbs from below zero. In the robber years the gradient points down — self, prey, violence — and the integral accumulates downward to a deep negative. Sample him there and you'd write him off, and the instantaneous read would be wrong, because the integral isn't done. Then the turn, Narada, Mara becoming Rama: the gradient flips. Then the ascent — sustained positive gradient, tapas, the Ramayana — until the positive area overtakes the early negative. Net crosses zero and ends high.
At no instant could you have predicted the endpoint from the height. Deep negative at thirty; author of the Ramayana at sixty. The gradient flipped and the integral responded forward. The robber years stay real, still in the sum — but they aren't final.
The fallen Baba, who falls from high. The mirror image. Early on, a steep positive gradient, real ascent, high accumulated height. Then the tilt — fame, followers, power — and the gradient rotates from vertical toward horizontal, sideways into status and control rather than up. That's the scope point made visible. Late, the vertical component shrinks; there's a great deal of activity but it's sideways; the integral stops climbing and then declines. The purity term, the thing that keeps the gradient vertical, failed.
Neither endpoint is readable from the middle. The robber climbs; the saint falls. The gradient, integrated over the whole path, sets the net — and it stays live until the last moment.
The consequence — merciful and sobering
Merciful: from any point, however low, a flipped gradient can climb to the summit. Never too late. Valmiki, Angulimala, Ashoka, Milarepa.
Sobering: no height is final. The integral reads the current gradient, so the saint can decline. Never done, never safe.
The past is real, in the sum, but not final, because the sum continues. That isn't "the past doesn't matter" — that's cheap grace, and it's not what integration says. The early deficit was real and had to be climbed out of. [inference]My reasoning from the sources — mine, not the tradition's.
Redemption is not debugging — erasing the bug — but integration, outgrowing it by ascent. The directional bug isn't terminal. It's a stretch of wrong-pointing gradient, outgrown by the climb.
The four failure modes
Belief at zero — flat gradient, off, no ascent. Directional, a horizontal tilt — pointed sideways at a false centre; mostly a horizontal-axis phenomenon, and the fallen Babas are a vertical gradient tilted horizontal. Impurity and blockers — pointed up but corrupted; purity fails and the vertical component drains. And paralysis, Arjuna's — pointed right, uncorrupted, but frozen: can't act, drowning in attachment to the fruit. Cleared by the true model plus surrender — act, release the fruit. The holes — stated openly, and I'm asking you to test them
Not rhetorical. Unsolved. The most valuable response breaks the model.
Hole 1 — the flip. What turns the gradient? Every case has an external trigger: Narada to Valmiki, the Buddha to Angulimala, Kalinga to Ashoka, Marpa to Milarepa. But why did it take on this node and not on others who met the same trigger? I can show the flip. I can't explain its mechanism. The tradition calls it grace; the equation has a term it can't yet specify. Test wanted: a flip with no external trigger, purely internal. And an account of why it took for these and not others. Hole 2 — does the actual maths have a gradient term? "Belief is the gradient" is reasoned from outside the equation. It needs checking against the actual formula. Either there's a term that behaves like a gradient-you-integrate, or this is a proposal for the equation rather than a reading of it. Hole 3 — the scope interface. The example shows the tilt but doesn't precisely locate where vertical ends and horizontal begins. Cases to test — bring more, especially breakers
Net-sum: Valmiki, Angulimala, Ashoka, Milarepa. The counter-test I want most is a case where the turn came and the net did not recover — where the past was final. If that exists, net-sum needs a boundary.
The flip: all of the above have external triggers. Bring a trigger-less flip, or explain why the trigger took.
The sobering mirror: high-attainment figures who declined. Are they recoverable? That tests "never safe."

The ask — and the discipline on it
I want cases. But the audience self-selects for people who love these stories and will bring confirmations — more Valmikis. Confirmations prove nothing. So: explicitly and repeatedly, ask for the breakers. The most valuable thing you can send is the case that breaks this. Reward the counter-case above the confirmation. Guardrail — non-negotiable
Everything here is a devotional and interpretive overlay. It says what the model MEANS, not what makes it TRUE. The equation's validity rests on its own falsifiable terms — the ablation, the fit, the tests — evaluated with no deity, no Valmiki, no gradient-story. Theology gives meaning; mathematics earns validity. Two lanes. A reader must be able to test the equation without ever seeing this page.
Status
Open inquiry. Coherent, unverified. The gradient and net-sum intuition hangs together and is a real property of integration. Two of the three holes are genuinely open; the second is checkable and unchecked. Captured to be tested, not believed.
